Dr. Stephanie Grote-Garcia is a certified Reading Specialist and Master Reading Teacher. Before entering higher education, she taught struggling elementary readers in Texas public schools. Dr. Grote-Garcia has served as past-president of the Specialized Literacy Professionals and co-founded the Texas Association for Literacy Education (TALE).

Recently, she co-founded the Texas Literacy Collaborative for Educator Preparation (TXLCEP), a consortium of literacy faculty across Texas dedicated to sharing and developing resources focused on the Science of Reading for Educator Preparation programs.
