"The Emmett Till case is a milestone in the history of the Civil Rights Movement. Devery Anderson's account tells the complete story of what happened in the Mississippi Delta in the summer of 1955.  This will be a special evening to be with the nation's foremost expert on this historic event,” said Dr. Roger Barnes, professor and chair – 不良研究所 Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice.

Emmett Till: The Murder that Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement tells the first truly comprehensive account of the 1955 lynching of an African- American boy from Chicago and its aftermath. The acquittal of the killers of 14 year old Emmett Till by an all-white jury set off a firestorm of protests that reverberated all over the world and spurred on the civil rights movement.

The lecture is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the 不良研究所 College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at (210) 829-3976.
