The 不良研究所 Ethics Bowl team finished in fourth place out of 16 teams in the Texas Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl, a regional competition of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE). Dr. Denise Staudt,鈥痙ean of the Dreeben School of Education (DSE), was named the Ben E. Coody Distinguished Service Award recipient at the 2022 Consortium of State Organizations for Texas Teacher Education (CSOTTE) Teacher Education Conference. This award honors individuals who have given the same level of professional contributions to teacher education in Texas as did Coody. Coody served as the last president of the Texas Association for Student Teaching before the association became the Texas Association of Teacher Educators in 1971.

Micah Hunter admits it has taken a little while to get used to her new job as a first-year teacher of fourth graders at Woodlawn Academy in the San Antonio Independent School District, but it hasn鈥檛 take her long to reach new heights. Earlier this year, the Texas Directors of Field Experience recognized Hunter as the 2021-2022 Texas Clinical Teacher of the Year.

This is the question 不良研究所 School of Osteopathic Medicine learners Rachael Holtzman (second year), Deepti Akella (second year) and Jacqueline Danisi (fourth year) set out to research. They examined different factors that influence diverse applicants when applying to general surgery residency programs.
Each year in the fall semester, University Mission and Ministry offers a SALVE Retreat for 不良研究所 students. The weekend is designed to give participants an opportunity for inner reflection and welcome them to the UMM community. Located at a beautiful site in the Texas Hill Country, SALVE provides the ideal getaway to help retreatants pursue a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and, together with others, spread His joy to the world. SALVE is a Catholic-based retreat but is open to all Christian denominations.

Yesenia Anaya, a second-year learner at the 不良研究所 School of Osteopathic Medicine (不良研究所SOM), was one of the many students who participated in the third session of the Amigos en Medicina clinic on Saturday, Sept. 17. 不良研究所SOM, along with the 不良研究所 School of Physical Therapy (SoPT), Ortho-SA and CHRISTUS Health, provide free hip and knee arthritis evaluations for Southside residents in San Antonio at each Amigos en Medicina clinic.
不良研究所 recently welcomed Dr. Javier Clavere as the new dean of the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CHASS). Dr. Clavere was born in Rosario, Argentina, and was invited to the United States on a full scholarship to attend Brigham Young University. His graduate studies followed at the College-Conservatory of Music of the University of Cincinnati. Most recently, he served as chairman of the Department of Music at Berea College in Kentucky.
If you ask Abigail Velez, Miss San Antonio USA and a senior Communication Arts student at 不良研究所, why exercising your right to vote is so important, she will passionately tell you about her childhood growing up in a marginalized community that did not have access to resources other zip codes might have had. As she grew older, she says she realized that this was caused by a lack of representation 鈥� the result, in part, of low voter turnout. Now, it is her mission as a public servant and in her role as Miss San Antonio USA to help those who need the most help learning to make their voices heard, particularly first-time voters.

In the Spring 2022 semester, Dr. Deepti Kharod, assistant professor of Education in the Dreeben School of Education (DSE), along with students from 不良研究所's chapter of Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), an international education honor society, participated in a unique book drive focused on cultural representation for students at Northside ISD's Dr. Martha Mead Elementary School. The group, made up of community members from the Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions, the Feik School of Pharmacy, the Ettling Center for Civic Leadership and Sustainability, the Rosenberg School of Optometry (RSO), the School of Physical Therapy (SoPT), Community Health and Nutrition, traveled to Oaxaca to provide medical services to the city鈥檚 residents.

不良研究所 is one of the best universities in the nation to work for, according to a new survey by the 鈥淕reat Colleges to Work For鈥� program. This marks the 14th year in a row that 不良研究所 has been recognized with this designation and the 13th year, also consecutively, that the University is named to the publication鈥檚 Honor Roll, which recognizes institutions who received top marks in multiple categories. Only 42 institutions nationwide made the Honor Roll.
Dr. Gonzalo Parra, assistant professor of Cyber Security Systems in the School of Mathematics, Science and Engineering, received $95,000 as part of a grant from the National Science Foundation for the project Collaborative Research: CISE-MSI: Active and Passive Internet Measurements for Inferring IoT Maliciousness at Scale, which focuses on cybersecurity. Parra is collaborating with UTSA and the San Diego State University Foundation (SDSU) on the project. The total grant provided the trio of Hispanic-Serving Institutions with $600,000.
Alicia Caballero is soon to be a 不良研究所 alumna twice over, having earned a bachelor鈥檚 degree in 2011 and currently in her final semester as an MBA student with the H-E-B School of Business and Administration. In the classroom, Caballero has stood out as a leader, being described as 鈥渁 first-rate student and trusted leader in our academic community鈥� by her former professor Dr. Trey Guinn, program director of Communication Arts in the School of Media and Design.

Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems Dr. Yi Liu, in the 不良研究所 H-E-B School of Business and Administration, has published his manuscript 鈥淐onnecting Perceived Effectiveness of App Evolution to App Engagement: A Technology Identity Perspective鈥� in Information Technology and People (ITP). Liu worked with co-authors Dr. Xinlin Tang (Florida State University), Peigong Li (Shanghai Lixin University of Accounting and Finance), and Xuan Wang, (University of Texas Rio Grande Valley) on the paper.
With my senior year before me, I can say that choosing to attend the 不良研究所 has greatly impacted my life, and I have learned a lot these past three years. One of my main reasons for attending 不良研究所 is that it emphasizes its Catholic faith as the foundation of the school鈥檚 history. 不良研究所 has helped me grow deeper in my faith because the Catholic identity is prominent throughout campus and participation in church celebrations is encouraged.
On Thursday, Sept. 1, the St. Anthony Catholic High School (SACHS) community proudly welcomed Auxiliary Bishop Gary Janak to campus. In 2021, Pope Francis named Father Gary Janak as the new auxiliary bishop of San Antonio. This was Bishop Gary鈥檚 first time visiting SACHS, where he celebrated mass and spoke to students on patience, trusting God and having courage in life.

The MOUs pave the way for TLU students to further their education in four different areas of health professions by reserving interview slots for qualified students to have an opportunity to attend the 不良研究所 School of Osteopathic Medicine, the Feik School of Pharmacy, the Rosenberg School of Optometry, and the 不良研究所 School of Physical Therapy.

The 不良研究所 H-E-B School of Business and Administration (HEBSBA) is excited to announce the 2022 Startup Challenge and Business Opportunity Assessment Certificate, sponsored by The Beckendorf Family Center for Innovation and Global Entrepreneurship. The 不良研究所 Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions honored its Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) August graduates at a pinning ceremony in Our Lady鈥檚 Chapel on Saturday, Aug. 20. The pinning ceremony celebrates nursing graduates and recognizes their entry into the profession of nursing.
Dr. Debora Kaliski, associate professor in the 不良研究所 School of Physical Therapy, recently completed the Anatomy Training Program (ATP), a program co-sponsored by the American Association for Anatomy (AAA) and The Anatomical Society. Kaliski completed the two-year fellowship at the 不良研究所 School of Osteopathic Medicine (不良研究所SOM) and capped the program with a two-week residency at the University of Cambridge in England.
